The Ghanaian government, together with mobile network operators in the country, on Tuesday announced major data bundle increases across all networks to enhance digital accessibility.

Addressing a press conference in the Ghanaian capital of Accra, Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovation Sam Nartey George announced a 10-15 percent data bundle among the three mobile network operators in the country.

He highlighted the new increases as follows;

AirtelTigo Ghana (AT Ghana): 10% increase across all data bundles GH₵400 bundle upgraded from 195GB to 236GB.

Telecel Ghana:10% increase across all data bundles GH₵400 bundle increased from 90GB to 250GB.

MTN Ghana: 15% increase across all data bundles Restoration of GH₵399 bundle offering 214GB (previously changed to GH₵350 for 92.88GB).

According to him, the new changes come as part of ongoing efforts to enhance digital accessibility and value for money in Ghana’s telecom market.

He observed that since the new government took over the administration of the West African country, there has been some agitation about the cost and quality of services by mobile network operators.

“In today’s digitally connected world, access to affordable and reliable internet is no longer a luxury but a necessity. The ministries are aware of this and have initiated the consultative process aimed at achieving a lasting approach to correcting the misalignment and distortion in the telecommunication sector,” said the communication minister.

The Ghanaian minister announced the new increases in the major mobile networks in the country.

“I am pleased to announce that my engagement with the CEOs of the telcos has resulted in the following specific measures, which are to take effect from Tuesday, 1st of July, 2025: AirtelTigo at a 10 percent increase in all data bundles, Telecel also a 10 percent increase in all data bundles currently offered by the network, and for MTN, a 15 percent increase to all data bundles,” added Sam George.

The minister expressed gratitude to telecom CEOs for their cooperation, signaling improved government-industry collaboration in the communications sector.

The increase in the data bundle in the West African country is set to take effect on July 1 this year. Enditem
