Govt calls for tributes ahead of state funeral for helicopter crash victims

The government on Monday called on members of the general public to submit tributes in honor of the victims of the military helicopter crash that claimed eight lives, including two cabinet ministers, the presidency confirmed.

A statement signed by Felix Kwaku Ofosu, spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, called on individuals and other entities to send their tributes to the Funeral Planning Committee for inclusion in the official program brochure.

 According to the government, the gesture forms part of efforts to collectively honor the service and sacrifice of the helicopter crash victims to the nation.

“In the wake of the profound sorrow following the tragic helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, the Funeral Planning Committee extends a solemn invitation to individuals, institutions, and the public to come together in remembrance and honor the lives of those we so sadly lost,” said the statement.

“As we prepare to bid farewell to our fallen compatriots, members of the public are encouraged to send messages of condolences and heartfelt tributes for inclusion in the official brochure,” it added.

The statement further urged individuals and organizations wishing to do so to submit their tributes by noon on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

A state funeral will be held at the Black Star Square on Friday, August 15, 2025, to honor the victims of the military helicopter crash on August 6. Enditem
