Beginning in January next year, public sector workers will receive a 9 percent pay raise, according to a statement issued on Sunday.
The statement jointly signed by Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson and George Smith-Graham of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), representing the government on one side, and Joshua Ansah and Isaac Bampoe Addo, representing the Trades Union Congress (TUC) and the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG), respectively, announced the conclusion of negotiations.
“Whereas the parties, negotiating as the public services joint standing negotiating committee, have concluded negotiations for the 2026 base pay on the single spine salary structure (SSSS), it is agreed that the base pay on the (SSSS) has been increased by 9 percent across the board from January 2026 to December 2026,” read the statement.
Similarly, the national daily minimum wage has also been increased by 9 percent over that of 2025, which translates to 21.77 Ghana cedis, or 1.99 U.S. dollars. End item
