Aduana FC and Medeama SC played out a goalless draw on Saturday afternoon at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa in a top-of-the-table contest in match day 9 of the Ghana Premier League (GPL).
The result keeps Aduana at the summit of the Ghana Premier League, while Medeama remain second, though they could be overtaken depending on other results this matchweek.
Aduana went into the game on a four-match winning run and started brightly, dominating possession and forcing Medeama to defend deep.
The hosts came close in the 17th minute when midfielder Siedu Saana unleashed a fierce drive from distance, but Medeama goalkeeper Felix Kyei reacted superbly to punch the effort away.
The home team’s pressure and movement unsettled the visitors early on, but the Mauve and Yellow gradually grew into the game, showing their tactical discipline and composure.
Medeama’s best opportunity came in the second half when they threatened on the counter, only to be denied by Aduana defender Adams Abubakar, who read the danger perfectly to break up a dangerous move in the 58th minute.
The visitors nearly snatched all three points in the dying minutes when a late free kick rattled the woodwork, leaving the home fans holding their breath.
Both sides ultimately settled for a point in what was a cagey but entertaining tactical battle between two title contenders. Aduana’s next test will be a high-profile meeting with Asante Kotoko, while Medeama travel to to face Eleven Wonders. Enditem
