Interior Minister renews Sampa Township curfew

The government, represented by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak has renewed the curfew hours for Sampa Township in the Bono Region, according to a statement Thursday.

The statement signed by Hon. Mubarak announced that the curfew hours will be between 10.00 pm to 4.00 am each day staring June 5.

“The Minister for the Interior, on the advice of the Bono Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument has renewed the curfew hours for Sampa Township in Jaman North District of the Bono Region from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am each day effective Thursday, June 5, 2025,” said the statement.

The government urged chiefs, opinion leaders, youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their grievances into ensuring peace in the area.

Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in Sampa Township in Jaman North District of the Bono Region from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons. Any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.

The violence in the area is as a result of a protracted chieftaincy conflict between two feuding factions. Enditem
