IOM repatriates 160 migrants to Chad

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Libya announced on Tuesday that it facilitated a humanitarian return flight, repatriating 160 migrants from Libya to Chad.

In a statement on its official Facebook page, the IOM said that all the migrants received protection and assistance throughout the process, including identity verification as well as medical and mental health checks, in line with established procedures to ensure a safe and dignified return.

The humanitarian return program, implemented by IOM, aims to support the most vulnerable migrants in Libya, in coordination with United Nations agencies and international partners.

Illegal migrants, mostly from African countries, have taken advantage of the insecurity and chaos in Libya since 2011 to cross the Mediterranean from its shores to Europe.  Enditem
