Justice Pwamang to Act as CJ following Baffoe-Bonnie’s absence

Supreme Court Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang will be acting as Chief Justice from Monday, August 18, 2005, following the absence of His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie from the jurisdiction, according to a circular sighted by Ghana Eye Report.

According to the circular dated August 13, 2025, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie stated that during his absence, the most senior Justice of the Supreme Court, His Lordship Justice Gabriel Pwamang, will assume responsibility as Acting Chief Justice.

Justice Pwamang’s new role will be exercised in between August 18 and Thursday, August 28, 2025, upon the return of the Acting CJ.

The notice, addressed to all justices of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, High Court, and heads of judicial divisions and units, was also copied to members of the Judicial Council, the General Legal Council, and the Acting Judicial Secretary.

Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, who has been serving as acting chief justice following the suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, extended his compliments in the official communication.

This temporary transition ensures continuity at the highest levels of Ghana’s judiciary as Justice Pwamang, widely respected for his legal expertise and seniority on the bench, takes up the role in the interim. Enditem
