Lawyer Bernard Baidoo is MP-Elect for Akwatia Constituency polling 54.3%

Lawyer Bernard Bediako Baidoo has been declared the Member of Parliament-elect for the Akwatia Constituency; the Electoral Commission (EC) confirmed late Tuesday.

According to Eric Owusu Gyamfi, the Returning Officer for the Akwatia Constituency, Solomon Kwame Asumadu of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) polled 15,235, representing 45.5%, while Lawyer Bernard Bediako Baidoo polled a total of 18,199 valid votes, representing 54.3%.

A third candidate, Patrick Owusu of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), polled 82 of the total valid votes cast, representing 0.2.

Baidoo thus beat the NPP candidate with a vote difference of 2,964.

According to the EC, total votes cast stood at 33,819, while total valid votes cast were 33,516, while rejected ballots stood at 303.

With the result, Bernard Baidoo succeeds Ernest Yaw Kumi, the former Member of Parliament for the area, who died on July 7 this year. Enditem
