The African Union (AU) 2063 Assembly Special Envoy to Ghana, Ambassador Bishop Dr. Sam Owusu, has called for peace between Ghana and Nigeria.
According to a press release issued in Accra, Ambassador Bishop Dr. Sam Owusu stated that the two countries must continue to foster peace, unity, and understanding in the spirit of African brotherhood.
He noted that, “Recent events have brought to light tensions between our two great nations, but it is crucial that we rise above our differences. We urge all citizens to exercise patience, respect, and understanding toward one another. Violence and taking the law into our hands are never solutions. Instead, we must rely on the legal and judicial systems to resolve conflicts peacefully and justly”.
“Let us remember that Ghana and Nigeria are not only close neighbors but brothers in the shared pursuit of prosperity and growth for our continent. Together, we have the opportunity to drive the change that Africa needs. The African Union Agenda 2063 calls for unity, peace, and collaboration, and it is through these values that we will achieve the Africa we all desire—a continent that thrives on mutual respect, peace, and development”, the AU Special Envoy added.
Ambassador Bishop Dr. Sam Owusu who doubles as the Country Director for International Association of World Peace Advocates (Ghana), therefore, encouraged the people of Ghana and Nigeria to continue building bridges of cooperation and solidarity, rather than walls of divisions, stressing that the two African giants must set aside their differences, and work towards creating a harmonious, prosperous, and united Africa.
