Ghanaian president John Dramani Mahama left Accra on Sunday for a two-nation official visit to Japan and Singapore, confirmed by a statement from the presidency.
According to the statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson for the President and Minister for Government Communications, the visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and attracting investments to Ghana.
In Japan, the minister observed that the president will participate in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX), where he will speak at a plenary session focused on promoting trade and investment.
He will also speak at the Ghana Presidential Investment Forum, highlighting Ghana’s investment prospects under the Resetting Ghana agenda.
President Mahama is also expected to meet with top Japanese officials, including Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, and executives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) to discuss cooperation in infrastructure, trade, and technical support.
Following the Japan trip, President Mahama will continue to Singapore for a three-day state visit, where he is expected to meet with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
He will also participate in the Africa-Singapore Business Forum and deliver an address at an investment forum aimed at promoting Ghana’s reforms and encouraging Singaporean investment in Ghana.
The visits, according to the Presidency, are part of Ghana’s strategy to deepen partnerships in technology, finance, infrastructure, and human capital development and expand market access for Ghanaian products.
The president and his entourage are expected back home after completing the engagements in Singapore. Enditem
