President John Dramani Mahama has directed an increase in the number of personnel to be recruited into the security services, according to a statement from the presidency on Monday.
The statement, signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications said the directive follows a meeting between President Mahama, Interior and Acting Defence Minsters with Security Chiefs.
“President John Dramani Mahama has held a high-level meeting with the Heads of Security Agencies, Minister for the Interior and Acting Minister for Defence on the ongoing services recruitment,” read the statement.
“Following a briefing on the process, the President had directed that the number of men and women to be recruited to the various security services should be increased from 20,000 to 40,000 over a four-year period,” it added.
The President, according to the statement has also directed the Heads of the Security Agencies to ensure transparency and fairness in the recruitment process. Enditem
