Majority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bawku Central Constituency, Mahama Ayariga on Tuesday condemned the killing of Mohammed Seidu Akugri, the Bongo District Director for the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), according to a statement.
The Bawku Central MP expressed his deep condolences to the family of the deceased, whom he described as a “comrade.”
Hon. Ayariga called on the law enforcement agencies to conduct thorough investigations and ensure that the perpetrators of the heinous crime were arrested and made to face the full rigors of the law.
“I urge all to remain calm and let’s focus on the ongoing efforts of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to bring lasting solution to the Bawku situation,” read the statement.
The Majority Leader commended the youth of Bawku for showing restraint in recent times and reaffirmed their commitment to peace.
He disclosed that meaningful progress is being made toward restoring stability in the area and cautioned people to desist from derailing efforts aimed at restoring peace in the area.
Mr. Akugri was reportedly shot and killed, with his body set ablaze in Nangodi, a community near the Upper East Regional capital of Bolgatanga. Enditem
