Mali adopts bills to repeal political parties charter, status of political opposition

Mali’s National Transitional Council (CNT) on Monday overwhelmingly adopted bills repealing the charter of political parties and the status of the political opposition.

The bills were passed with 130 votes in favor, two against, and no abstentions. Malick Diaw, president of the CNT, clarified that the repeal does not call into question the principles of multiparty politics or the status of the political opposition in Mali.
