The Mamprugu Youth Association (MAYA) is calling on the military to intervene swiftly to crash the bandits behind the killings in the Bawku area within the Upper East Region, according to a statement on Tuesday.
The statement, signed by President of the Association Seidu Awudu, condemned what it describes as the violent attacks by Kusasi bandits, which led to the death of an innocent woman and injury to several others, according to a statement issued here on Tuesday.
It also observed that the attacks come on the heels of an earlier unprovoked attack that claimed the life of a Bissa man.
“The Mamprugu Youth Association, Bawku Chapter, strongly condemns the September 15, 2025, violent attacks by Kusasi bandits at an area called ‘Fadikafuta,’ Bawku, which tragically killed an innocent woman and severely injured several others,” read the statement.
“We therefore demand swift military intervention to pursue and crush these lawless bandits without delay,” added the statement.
The Association is also demanding immediate arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators to serve as a deterrent, as well as urging the closure of unapproved Kusasi markets and barriers, which, according to them, remain a flashpoint for the repeated attacks.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to peace and development in the Bawku enclave but cautioned it will not sit idle while violent extremists wreak havoc on innocent lives, urging the government, security agencies, and all peace-loving Ghanaians to work at ending the unprovoked aggression. End item
