There will be a restriction on movement during the day and night on Thursday, September 18, 2025; this is according to a statement from the Manhyia Palace on Tuesday.
The statement, signed by Amb. Nana Effah-Apenteng, Acting Chief of Staff at the Manhyia Palace, announced that schools and markets will be closed on the same day to pave the way for the final funeral rites of Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the late Asantehemaa.
However, banks, pharmaceutical stores, fuel stations, restaurants, and transport service providers, according to Manhyia, are exempted from any restriction of movement during the day on September 18.
Meanwhile, the following utility and essential service providers, including the Electricity Company of Ghana, Ghana Water Company Limited, the Fire Service, the Ghana Ambulance Service, and personnel of the Ghana Health Service, are excluded from any form of restriction and are allowed to perform their duties without hindrance on the night of Thursday, September 18, 2025.
Day two of the final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa is currently underway at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, capital of the Ashanti Region.
The late Queen Mother, the sister of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, passed away on August 7 this year at age 98 after reigning for eight years. She will be finally interred to join her ancestors on the night of Thursday, September 18, 2025. End item
