Martin Kpebu released from OSP detention

By Francis Kobena Tandoh

Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has been released from detention by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), according to our sources late Wednesday.

Mr. Kpebu was reportedly arrested for allegedly obstructing an OSP officer after appearing at the office in response to an invitation on Wednesday, December 3.

He was subsequently detained and granted bail, with conditions requiring him to show landed property in his name and provide one surety.

His lawyer, Marcellinus Biah indicated that in an attempt to meeting the bail conditions, he left the OSP offices to get documents to that effect but upon returning to the OSP, Mr. Kpebu was not at the office and could not establish his whereabouts.

Later checks by Ghana Eye Report indicated that Mr. Kpebu had been sent to the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) facility to be kept there.

However, he was later moved back to the OSP after an intervention by an order from above and was subsequently released.

Speaking in an interview with Accra-based TV3 after his release, Mr. Kpebu described his detention as needless. Enditem
