Microlight aircraft crashes in Tema killing two onboard

A microlight aircraft flying crashed in Ghana’s eastern port city of Tema, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) confirmed in a statement on Monday.

According to the GCAA, the aircraft, with two persons on board was flying from Ho, capital of the Volta Region to Accra.

“The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority can confirm that a microlight aircraft with registration number 9GADV crashed in Tema on Monday, 16 March, 2026,” read the statement.

It added, “The aircraft was flying from Ho to Accra, estimating Accra at 1520Z. The last contact with the aircraft on radio was 1418Z. There were two persons on board.”

 Meanwhile, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed the death of the two persons onboard.

“Two males who were onboard the helicopter unfortunately lost their lives. Their bodies have been retrieved and handed over to the police for further investigation,” said the GNFS in a statement. Enditem
