Military to resume Accra recruitment on Nov. 20 at El-Wak, 4 other venues—GAF

The suspended 2025/2026 military recruitment screening exercise for Greater Accra will resume on Thursday, November 20, 2025, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) announced on Monday.

In a statement signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, acting director general in charge of public relations, she explained that the screening will be conducted across eight sub-centers in five locations as part of measures to ensure an orderly process.

“All qualified applicants in batches of 600 persons will receive an SMS specifying their reporting dates, batches, and designated centers,” the statement noted.

The statement listed the designated screening centers as including El-Wak Stadium (two centers), Nicholson Park at Burma Camp (two centers), the Air Force Base at Burma Camp, the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) in Teshie (two centers), and the Eastern Naval Command in Tema.

Applicants have therefore been urged to strictly follow the instructions provided in the SMS notifications and check the recruitment portal for additional updates.

The statement urged prospective applicants who do not receive any text message by November 20 to call the helpline or contact the WhatsApp number provided for assistance.

The GAF further cautioned families and friends not to accompany applicants to the centers to reduce congestion, emphasizing that non-applicants will not be permitted entry.

To ensure transparency, the entire Greater Accra recruitment team has been replaced with new leadership—Commodore F.A. Nyarko, Colonel F. Kusi-Darko, and Colonel G.B. Eduah—who now head Human Resources, Manpower, and Information Technology, respectively.

The military recruitment exercise was suspended last week following a stampede that resulted in the death of six females and injury to several others on Wednesday.

Subsequently, a Board of Inquiry was set up to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and is currently working.

Captain Arhin assured the public that anyone found culpable will face sanctions.

She added that the Armed Forces deeply regrets the incident and has extended sympathies to the bereaved families.

GAF also pledged continued support for the injured, who will receive free medical care at the 37 Military Hospital until they fully recover.

A “special recruitment package” will also be offered to the injured and the affected families. The Ghana Armed Forces continues to count on the cooperation of the general public in this endeavor,” the statement concluded. End item
