Minority demands reinstatement of dismissed BoG Staff

The Minority in Ghana’s Parliament on Tuesday demanded the immediate reinstatement of about 100 staff dismissed by the Bank of Ghana (BoG) recently.

Addressing journalists in Parliament, Member of Parliament (MP) for Savelugu, Hajia Fatahia Abdul-Aziz, described the move by the country’s Central Bank as unjust and unacceptable.

According to her, the termination of the appointments without appropriate justification constitutes a violation of Ghana’s labour laws and undermines the rights of the affected workers.

“The Bank of Ghana must restore every single dismissed worker to their rightful position without any further delay. Their appointments were lawful; their dismissals were not,” said the Savelugu MP.

She further outlined a series of steps the Minority intends to take if the dismissed employees are not reinstated promptly.

Hajia Abdul-Aziz also called for accountability from the Bank’s leadership, emphasizing the Governor of the Bank of Ghana was not above the laws of the land.

“The Governor of the Bank of Ghana must face Parliament and explain this heartless abuse of power. You are not above the law, and you must answer to the people,” she further stated. Enditem
