The national daily minimum wage (NDMW) has been increased by 9 percent to GH₵21.77, or 1.99 U.S. dollars, according to a statement by the National Tripartite Committee (NTC) on Sunday.
The statement, signed by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and Hon. Dr. Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo, finance and labor ministers, respectively, representing the government, and Mr. Joshua Ansah and Nana Dr. Emmanuel Adu-Sarkodee for the Trades Union Congress (TUC) and Ghana Employers Association (GEA), announced that the new NDMW takes effect from January 1, 2026.
“In line with Section 113 (1)(a) of the Labour Act, 2003, (Act 651), the National Tripartite Committee concluded negotiations on the determination of the 2026 National Daily Minimum Wage at its meeting held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, in Accra,” read the statement.
It added, “The Committee concluded as follows: An increase in the NDMW by 9 percent over the 2025 NDMW, which translates into a new NDMW of GH₵21.77.”
The Tripartite Committee explained that in determining the NDMW, they took into account the current economic environment, cost of living, sustainability of businesses, and desirability of attaining higher levels of employment.
