Ewurabena Aubynn of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was officially sworn in as the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North on Tuesday.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, administered the oath following her narrow victory in a rerun election held on July 11, 2025.
Her addition in the legislative body gives the governing National Democratic Congress a two-thirds majority in the house.
A rerun election was conducted at 19 polling stations due to annulment of the December 2024 results over irregularities.

In the end, Aubynn won with 34,090 votes to New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) Akua Afriyie’s 33,881—a margin of 209 votes
Parliament ceremony: The Minority (NPP) caucus staged a walkout in protest when Speaker Bagbin denied their request to speak before the oath ceremony. They exited as the ceremony proceeded without disruption.
Aubynn’s victory marks the first time the NDC has won in Ablekuma North during the Fourth Republic, flipping a traditionally NPP-held seat. Enditem
