Niger army says 43 terrorists “neutralized” in one week

The Nigerien army “neutralized” 43 terrorists and arrested 28 suspected members and accomplices of terrorist armed groups across the country between Feb. 9 and 15, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) has announced.

   These results were achieved through targeted operations conducted by ground troops, supported by coordinated airstrikes, the FDS said in a weekly bulletin broadcast Wednesday on national television channel Tele-Sahel.

   A significant amount of weapons and ammunition were seized in those operations, it said, in addition to other sensitive logistical item, including 5,452 sticks of dynamite, 68 rolls of detonating cord, 68,000 liters of smuggled fuel, as well as hundreds of thousands of harmful tablets intended for criminal networks.
