The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has opened nominations for members to file to contest the party’s presidential candidate to contest for the 2028 general election, according to a statement on Tuesday.
A statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong announced that nominations for the position of the party’s presidential candidate shall open on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, and close on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
“Pursuant to Article 13 (1)(2) of the constitution of the New Patriotic Party, notice is hereby given inviting applications from members of the party for nomination as the party’s presidential candidate to contest for the office of the president of the republic in the 2028 general elections,” read the statement.
The party announced that any member wishing to apply for nomination as the party’s presidential candidate is required to pay a non-refundable fee of GH₵100,000, while a filing fee for the presidential nomination has been pegged at GH₵500,000.
The NPP will hold its presidential primary on January 31, 2026, to elect the party’s presidential candidate for the 2028 general election. Enditem
