The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Tuesday announced the start of registration to expand the party’s delegates album ahead of the presidential primary scheduled for January 2026.
According to a statement signed by William Yamoah, Secretary for the Presidential Elections Committee, the party observed that the registration follows a decision made at the National Annual Delegates Conference held at the University of Ghana, Legon, on July 19, 2025.
According to the decision of the conference, the new categories of delegates to be added to the party’s album include former regional and constituency executives, members of the council of elders and patrons, past Members of Parliament (MPs), former ministers and Metropolitan, Municipal, District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), TESCON leaders, and current and former external branch executives.
The statement emphasized that all qualified individuals are expected to register their names with their respective regional, constituency, or external branch offices.
An online registration platform will also be made available for members of the party in the diaspora.
The party has scheduled Friday, September 19, 2025, as the deadline for registration of new members for inclusion into the party album.
The NPP emphasized that only those who meet the outlined criteria will be allowed to register and vote. The Presidential Elections Committee will carry out a full verification and validation process to ensure the credibility of the voters list.
The party added the process is part of ongoing efforts to ensure fairness, transparency, and inclusiveness in the NPP internal democratic process. Enditem
