Three armed robbers have been killed in a shoot-out with the police, the Tema Regional Police Command confirmed on Monday.
A statement signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs for the Tema Region, observed that the police engaged 10 armed robbers in a gunfire exchange after a distress call had been placed to them.
According to the police, three of the armed robbers were killed while the remaining suspects fled the scene of the incident.
“The Tema Regional Police Command on July 21, 2025, responded to a distress call regarding armed men numbering about 10 breaking into a warehouse at the Tema Industrial Area,” read the statement.
“The police patrol team that responded to the distress call confronted the suspects, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Three of the suspects were shot in the process and have been pronounced dead. The remaining suspects, some of whom are believed to have sustained gunshot wounds, fled the scene,” it added.
Among the items the police recovered were a foreign Bruni Mod pistol, a double-barreled locally manufactured pistol with 2 rounds of ammunition, and 11 live BB rounds.
According to the police, the bodies of the dead have been deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue for identification, preservation, and autopsy while it continues with investigations to arrest those on the run.
