The fifth prototype of Russia’s LMS-901 “Baikal” light multi-purpose aircraft completed its maiden test flight, marking the third flight-ready model in the program, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade said Monday.
The flight, which lasted approximately 10 minutes, saw the aircraft reach an altitude of 300 meters and maintain a speed of 190 km per hour.
“The prototype successfully passed ground testing and completed its first flight, the aircraft performed a full circle over the airfield and conducted a standard landing,” the ministry said.
The LMS-901 “Baikal” is designed to replace the Soviet-era An-2 multi-purpose aircraft. The nine-seat utility plane features a cruising speed of up to 300 km per hour and a maximum flight range of 3,000 km. Enditem
