Senegal beats South Sudan 5-0 in FIFA World Cup qualifier

Senegal beat South Sudan 5-0 in the Group B match of the FIFA World Cup qualifier in the capital city of Juba on Friday.

   Ismaila Sarr, who plays for the English Premier League club Crystal Palace, scored two goals in the 29th and 54th minutes while Sadio Mane added himself on the scoresheet in the 46th minute.

   Bayern Munich striker Nicholas Jackson and Cherif Ndiaye found the net in the 60th and 75th minutes respectively to complete the rout.

   Senegal now leads Group B with 21 points, followed by Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) with 19 points, while South Sudan sits at bottom with four points.

   The other teams in the group are Sudan with 13 points, and Mauritania and Togo, who are tied with seven points each.

   South Sudan will host Togo on Oct. 13 while Senegal will host Mauritania on Oct. 14 in the final games of the group.

   Only the group winner will qualify automatically for the World Cup with the runners-up having the chance to advance to second round and compete for a place in the inter-confederation playoff.  Enditem
