Ghana’s Speaker of Parliament, the Right Honourable Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, will chair the 9th Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC 2025), according to organizers on Thursday.

This year’s 9th Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC) will host the second meeting of the Global Debt Initiative under the overarching theme “Spurring GITFiC’s Global Debt Initiative; Consolidating Member States’ Gains for Synergistic Impact” and also the inaugural GITFiC-AfCFTA Tertiary Students’ Congress, marking a significant expansion of GITFiC’s engagement rooted in the GITFiC Agenda 2031. The event is scheduled to take place from 27th to 29th November 2025 in Accra, Ghana.

The three-day program will convene participants from Member States, Central Bank Governors, International Development Experts, Global Economists, Business Leaders, Academia, and Civil Society to engage in top-level dialogue on debt, trade, and regional integration under the AfCFTA and the maiden AfCFTA Tertiary Students’ Congress, which is set to empower Africa’s next generation to shape the future of trade and finance.

The Rt. Hon. Speaker’s leadership as chair underscores Ghana’s unwavering commitment to driving inclusive economic growth and championing Africa-led policy solutions to global financial challenges.

His participation reflects the importance of parliamentary engagement in the formulation of economic policies that enhance transparency, accountability, and sustainable development across the continent.

Complimenting GITFiC’s implementation of the AfCFTA Students Clubs and Curriculum across Africa, a key highlight of this year’s edition is the inauguration of the GITFiC AfCFTA Students Congress, an initiative designed to empower young Africans to engage in policy dialogue and contribute meaningfully to the implementation of the AfCFTA. This milestone demonstrates GITFiC’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of thinkers, entrepreneurs, and leaders who will shape Africa’s economic future.

Since its inception, GITFiC has remained a premier platform for trade and finance discourse in Africa, promoting collaboration among governments, financial institutions, and academia. The 2025 conference promises to advance meaningful partnerships and concrete policy recommendations that will propel Africa toward a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient economic future.
