Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Iddie Adams has sent a message of goodwill to Bibiani Gold Stars and Kumasi Asante Kotoko, who are representing Ghana in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) inter-club competitions, according to a statement released here over the weekend.
The statement, signed by the minister, observed how proud the country is as the two top clubs represent Ghana in the CAF competitions.
“On behalf of the government and people of Ghana, I extend my warmest goodwill to Bibiani Gold Stars and Asante Kotoko as you represent our nation in the CAF inter-club competitions this weekend at the Accra Sports Stadium,” read the statement.
It added, “For Bibiani Gold Stars, your maiden appearance on the continental stage is historic and a reward for your hard work and consistency in the domestic league. For Asante Kotoko, your legacy in African football is unmatched, and once again, you carry the hopes of millions of supporters home and abroad.”
The minister assured the government stands firm with the two clubs and observed it remains committed to creating the enabling environment to thrive, compete, and excel at the international stage.
Ghana Premier League champions, Gold Stars, will host JS Kabylie of Algeria in the CAF Champions League at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, September 20, while Kotoko begins their CAF Confederation Cup journey against Nigeria’s Kwara United at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday. End item
