Head coach of Uganda’s national football team Paul Put has named a squad that will face Cameroon and Gambia in international friendly matches.
Edgar Watson, the Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), confirmed to Xinhua on Tuesday that the two matches will be played in Morocco during the FIFA International matches’ window.
Watson said Uganda Cranes will first face Cameroon on June 6, and later take on The Gambia three days later. “These matches will help the coach and his technical team test several players,” added Watson.
Paul Put has included 12 players from the Uganda Premier League, and 16 foreign-based players.
Uganda will also use the two international matches to prepare players ahead of the upcoming CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) which will be hosted by Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya starting in August, 2025.
Uganda has also qualified for the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 which kicks off in Morocco in December. Enditem
