Ukraine says Russia launched over 400 drones in overnight assault

Russia launched more than 400 drones and missiles in an overnight assault targeting 15 regions across Ukraine, Ukrainian authorities reported Wednesday.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that it intercepted 386 out of 415 Russian drones, and 27 out of 43 missiles. Sixteen missiles and 21 drones hit 17 locations across Ukraine.

At least one person was killed and nine others injured in the attacks, the State Emergency Service said.

An enterprise was hit in the western Volyn region, and private houses and industrial zone buildings sustained damage in the northern Zhytomyr region. Civilian and industrial infrastructure was targeted in the central Vinnytsia and the western Khmelnytskyi regions.

Authorities said that during the overnight assault on Ukraine, eight Russia-launched drones crossed into Poland.

“Russian-Iranian ‘shaheds’ operated in the airspace of Poland, in NATO airspace,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on X, referring to the shahed drones used by Russia.

“It was not just one ‘shahed’ that could be called an accident, but at least eight strike drones aimed toward Poland,” Zelensky said.  Enditem
