Update: Helicopter crash Children’s Support Fund receives over GH₵8m, 20,000 U.S. dollars

A total amount of GH₵ 8,600,905.00 and US$20,000.00 in donations has been paid into the Children’s Support Fund; this is according to Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and Coordinator of the Fund, on Friday.

Providing an update of donations received so far into the fund, Dr. Sawyerr stressed that the contributions were made between September 23 and October 12, 2025.

She mentioned some of the latest donors to the Fund as including the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, BOST Energies, Bui Power Authority, Energy Commission, and Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company Limited, as well as several individuals and agencies under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.

Some individual contributors listed were Kow Eduakwa Sam, Israel Quarme Arye, Timothy Addai Adivilah Balagkutu, and Augustus Obuadum Tanoh.

Dr. Sawyerr expressed appreciation to all institutions and individuals who have supported the initiative and encouraged others to contribute to the ongoing effort.

Donations can be made through Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited (Stanbic Heights Branch, Accra) using the following accounts:

The statement added that checks and bank drafts should be made payable to “Children Support Fund 6825,” while mobile money contributions can also be made through the approved payment platforms attached to the release.

The Children’s Support Fund was established by the government to cater for the welfare and education of children who lost their parents in the August 6, 2025, helicopter crash at Akrofuom, near Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.

The chopper crash claimed the lives of eight public officials, including former Defence Minister Dr. Omane Boamah and former Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed. Enditem
