The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) said the results of 34,563 candidates who sat for the 2025 WASSCE have been either withheld or cancelled pending investigations ahead of releasing the results, according to a statement issued over the weekend.
The statement, signed by the Head of Public Affairs, observed that the examination body has completed the marking and grading process and will release provisional results for all candidates not affected by the irregularities.
WAEC directed all candidates to verify their results status via the WAEC WhatsApp line (0208630114) before the official release date.
The rationale behind the verification, WAEC explained, is to find out whether a candidate’s result is withheld, cancelled, or cleared for release.
“The West African Examination Council wishes to inform the general public, particularly all 2025 WASSCE candidates, that the Council is in the final stages of processing the results of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School,” read the statement.
It added, “All 2025 WASSCE candidates are therefore advised to verify their result status before the official release date. Candidates may do so through the official WAEC WhatsApp line 0208630114.”
WAEC further announced that provisional results of this year’s WASSCE are expected to be released on or before November 15, 2025.
In all, a total of 461,640 candidates sat the 2025 WASSCE in Ghana, comprising 254,259 females and 207,381 males, representing a slight increase from 460,811. Enditem
