“We have no contract with the Ukrainian firm for a smear campaign” —NPP

By Francis Kobena Tandoh

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has refuted allegations it engaged a Ukrainian public relations company prior to the 2024 general election to undertake a smear campaign for the party, a statement issued on Sunday clarified.

The statement, released by the National Communications Directorate, says it has no contract with Brandcom, either in the past or present, to undertake unethical digital services for the main opposition party.

“The attention of the New Patriotic Party has been drawn to an article published on AllAfrica.com on July 31, 2025, under the headline, “Ukrainian PR Agency Demands $280,000 from Ghana’s NPP for Online Smear Campaign,” read the statement.

“We wish to state emphatically and categorically that the NPP has no contractual relationship (past or present) with any entity known as Brandcom, based in Ukraine or elsewhere. The claims contained in the article are completely false, baseless, and defamatory,” added the statement.

According to the NPP, it has always conducted its campaigns based on integrity, policy, and a commitment to the democratic process, and they reject any insinuation that undermines their record of issue-based campaigning and respect for democratic norms.

The party observed that it considers the publication as a deliberate attempt to tarnish the reputation of the NPP and sow public distrust.

It therefore demanded an immediate retraction of the false claims and reserved the right to pursue legal action against Brandcom and any media outlet that publishes or republishes unsubstantiated allegations. Enditem
