“We will do everything to qualify for 2026 FIFA World Cup -Otto Addo

By Francis Kobena Tandoh

Coach of the Black Stars of Ghana, Otto Addo, said on Saturday that his team will do everything to secure qualification for the next FIFA World Cup.

Addressing a press conference in the national capital, Accra, ahead of the last 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifier against Comoros, Addo observed that his focus was not about setting records but winning to get Ghana to the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

“I’m not thinking about records. It’s always about teamwork, and the full focus to win is what I’m thinking about. The players did very well in the last match, and we are hoping to execute our plan in the Comoros game very well. That is the focus, and we will do everything to secure the qualification on Sunday,” said Addo.

Addo was the one who secured qualification for Ghana in a playoff against Nigeria and is also in pole position to secure another World Cup qualification for the West African country.

After nine matches in the qualifiers, Ghana sits on top of Group I with 22 points and a 16-goal difference, with Madagascar occupying second position with 19 points and a goal difference of eight.

Mali, Comoros, and the Central African Republic follow with 15, 15, and five points, respectively, while Chad sits at the bottom of the group with one point.

Ghana needs a point to make it a historic fifth qualification to the World Cup and will play against the Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Ghana and Comoros have met four times, with the latter winning two of those encounters, the former winning one, and the other ending in a draw. End item
