Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Wontumi has been moved to the headquarters of the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) from the Economic and Organized Crimes Office (EOCO), according to our sources on Friday.
Former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, together with Minority Leader and hundreds of supporters had gone to the offices of Hundreds of the NIB to secure a bail for Wontumi but were unsuccessful.
Despite being allowed entry into the offices of the NIB, Dr. Bawumia was not allowed to see Chairman Wontumi.
Dr. Bawumia, presidential candidate of the NPP expressed his disappointment at the development indicating that they had made arrangements to see him and secure his bail.
“We made arrangements to see him, but they are telling us different things when we came here. The bail condition on Wontumi is onerous,” said Dr. Bawumia.
Meanwhile, Ghana Eye Report is picking reports that the detained NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman had been taken out of the NIB headquarters to an unknown location.
Antwi-Boasiako has been in the custody of the EOCO since he was arrested in front of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in the Ghanaian capital of Accra on Tuesday. More soon. Enditem
