The Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic will officially commence today, Tuesday, October 21, the Speaker, Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, confirmed recently in a statement.
According to a statement issued from the Office of the Speaker, proceedings will begin at 2.00 p.m. at Parliament House in Accra.
The notice, issued in accordance with Order 58 of the Standing Orders of Parliament, formally sets the new date for the resumption of parliamentary business following an earlier postponement announced on October 6, 2025.
Members of Parliament are expected to reconvene from recess to deliberate on key national matters, including the much-discussed “Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill,” often referred to as the anti-LGBT bill. The forthcoming national budget for 2026 is also being prepared for presentation to Parliament.
In addition, two new National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament-Elect, Bernard Baidoo and Prof. Alidu Seidu for the Akwatia and Tamale South Constituencies, will be sworn in as parliamentarians. End item
