Ghana repatriates 150 more nationals from South Africa

An additional 150 Ghanaians fleeing xenophobic violence in South Africa arrived home late Monday aboard a passenger flight, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the initial phase of the evacuation effort in May and June, the Ghanaian government evacuated 926 nationals from the country aboard chartered flights.

In late July, the government announced the resumption of evacuations due to the exacerbating unfavorable conditions in South Africa.

Since then, the government has partnered with some commercial airlines to evacuate at least 398 Ghanaians who have registered with the country’s diplomatic mission in South Africa for repatriation.  Enditem
