Russia is expected to face a colder winter than last year despite higher-than-usual average temperatures for this time of the year, RIA Novosti reported on Friday.
The forecast showed a significant number of thaws alternating with severe cold snaps reaching -20 degrees Celsius and below, with a 65-68 percent probability of a colder winter, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, was quoted as saying.
Russia has experienced unusually warm weather in November, with Moscow seeing snowless conditions and temperatures typical of early October, the report said, adding that similar abnormal warmth was recorded in Vladivostok, where temperatures also significantly exceeded climatic norms. Enditem
