All is set for the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) to arraign former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta in court on Monday, Samuel Darko, Director of Strategy, Research & Communication, said on Saturday.
Speaking on ‘Newsfile’ on Saturday, Darko disclosed that Ofori-Atta and others will be charged on 78 counts of corruption-related offenses against the state.
The others to be charged alongside the former finance minister include former Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) officials and others linked to Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML).
According to the OSP, the wrongdoing on the part of the officials involves a scheme from 2017 to 2024 to siphon public funds via procurement of contracts without proper competitive bidding.
Darko rejected calls for a trial in absentia, saying that under Ghanaian law, the person must be formally charged and given a court appearance first. End item
