The Ukrainian military counterintelligence and the naval forces have struck and critically damaged a Russian submarine in a joint operation at the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said Monday.
The Project 636.3 Kilo-class submarine was hit by underwater drones “Sub Sea Baby” and suffered critical damage, the SBU said in a statement posted on Telegram, adding the submarine was carrying four Kalibr cruise missile launchers.
The SBU estimated the vessel’s value at about 400 million U.S. dollars.
Russia has not commented on the statement. Enditem
