The introduction of the 24-hour economy, the passage of the LGBTQ bill, and ending the ‘galamsey’ menace promised by President John Dramani Mahama have not been fulfilled, according to General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Justin Kodua Frimpong on Wednesday.
Speaking on an Accra-based TV station on the first anniversary of the coming of Mr. Mahama, the NPP General Secretary observed that it will be hypocritical on the part of anybody to do a fair assessment of the government without looking at the manifesto the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presented to the people ahead of the 2024 general elections.
According to him, not much has been achieved owing to what is contained in the manifesto of the NDC led by President Mahama.
“Ahead of the elections, John Mahama and the NDC told us they were going to do the 24-hour economy, pass the LGBTQ law, end ‘galamsey’ within three months in power, but what they have not been able to do all these,” said Kodua.
He disclosed that the largest opposition party will, in the coming days, present its assessment of the Mahama administration one year after assuming power.
Speaking at an inter-denominational Thanksgiving service to mark one year in office at the Jubilee House, the seat of government, President Mahama acknowledged that there is much work to be done despite the remarkable achievements chalked by his government in the past year.
“The work we have begun is far from finished, but today reminds us that progress is not measured only by numbers and by charts and diagrams. It is also measured by hope that is restored, by trust that is rebuilt, and by the correct direction that is regained,” said President Mahama. Enditem
