Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Bio has reiterated his government’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with China to ensure continued mutual benefits.
While receiving the credentials of Zhao Yong, the newly appointed Chinese ambassador to Sierra Leone, on Thursday in Freetown, Sierra Leone’s capital, Bio highlighted the longstanding friendship between Sierra Leone and China.
Bio expressed appreciation for China’s contributions to the West African country’s infrastructure, economic growth, and social initiatives, describing China as a “trusted and reliable partner.”
He emphasized that the bilateral relationship is founded on mutual respect, shared values, and a win-win partnership, noting that China’s support demonstrates its genuine commitment to Sierra Leone’s progress.
For his part, Zhao said China is ready to work with Sierra Leone to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, bolstering bilateral cooperation in areas of strategic interest.
He also expressed China’s appreciation for Sierra Leone’s unwavering support for the one-China principle. Enditem
