Bibiani Gold Stars held Kumasi Asante Kotoko to a 0-0 goalless draw in matchday 19 of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) at the Dun’s Park on Saturday.
Despite enjoying a slightly higher possession, Kotoko looked more purposeful upfront with greater attacking threat, particularly in the second half.
Clear chances were limited, but both teams showed intent, with goalkeepers at either end called into action on several occasions.
The away team came closest to breaking the deadlock late in the game when defender Samba O’Neil headed the ball into the net from a corner; however, the referee ruled out the goal for a foul, much to the frustration of Kotoko.
Gold Stars, who were looking to bounce back from their previous defeat, remained disciplined and organised, ensuring Kotoko were unable to capitalise on their pressure. The hosts created a few openings of their own but lacked precision in the final third.
The draw leaves Gold Stars seven points adrift of the league summit, while Kotoko sit eight points off the top. With the title race tightening, both sides will see this as a missed opportunity as the season enters a decisive phase. Enditem
