Abdul Karim Zito has stepped down from his position as head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club with immediate effect, confirmed the club on Monday.
The Kumasi-based club stated: “Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey has resigned from his role as the head coach of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club with immediate effect.”
“Management has accepted the resignation, expressed its appreciation to the coach for his services and wished him the best for the future. The new technical direction of the club will be communicated in due course,” the club added.
The resignation brings to an end to a period of intense speculation about Zito’s future, which escalated following Kotoko’s elimination from the MTN FA Cup on Sunday.
Earlier on Monday, the club’s management had publicly stated that no final decision had been made regarding the coach, though they admitted they were “not fully satisfied” with the team’s results.
Meanwhile, Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be playing the Super Clash against Accra Hearts of Oak without their head coach this weekend. Enditem
