The statement, signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, said the country’s Chief Justice found no prima facie case in the said petitions when forwarded to him for consideration as prescribed by Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.

It added, “By a letter dated 26th January 2026, the Chief Justice informed His Excellency the President that no prima facie case has been established by the petitions to warrant any further investigations for the removal of the Electoral Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners, and the Special Prosecutor.”
Ghana’s president, Mahama, removed Justice Gertrude Araba Torkornoo, the former Chief Justice, from office in September last year after receiving a report by a committee constituted to inquire into a petition submitted by a citizen for the removal of the then Chief Justice. Enditem
