Ghana’s economy recovers after effective measures: President Mahama

Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama said on Friday that the country’s economy is back on track after a crippling crisis from late 2021 to 2024.

While delivering the State of the Nation Address in parliament, Mahama said the economy has been stabilizing between January 2025 and January 2026, and returning to growth through tough measures adopted by his government.

Achieving macroeconomic stability has not been easy, the president said, adding that tough decisions were the necessary building blocks for recovery and the current stability the country is enjoying.

He described the West African country as resilient and on a path of renewal, saying, “The state of Ghana is resilient. Our nation’s state is renewing, and it is firmly in the hands of its people. We are on the verge of takeoff.”

Ghana’s consumer inflation rate eased further to 3.8 percent in January from 23.5 percent in the same period of 2025, according to data from the Ghana Statistical Service.  Enditem
