Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin on Tuesday officially sworn in former High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso East Constituency.
The swearing-in ceremony took place in the Chamber of the Parliament of Ghana in the national capital, Accra.
Baba Jamal took both the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Office, officially assuming his role as the new MP for the constituency.
The former High Commissioner won the Ayawaso East by-election held on 3 March 2026 on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Speaker of Parliament urged the newly sworn-in parliamentarian to stay accountable to the people who elected him and focus on serving the constituency.
He emphasized that he would be watching the performance of the Ayawaso East MP.
The by-election was held after the death of the previous MP for the constituency Nasser Toure.
Baba Jamal is a former MP for Akwatia Constituency in the Eastern Region and previously served as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria. Enditem
