African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) Regional Director Humphrey Nwugo said that his organisation was very keen to develop relations with Russia, speaking on Thursday at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
“The fact that we are here also demonstrates that we are looking to deepen our relationship with Russia. So we support African importers who are buying goods from Russia. We support Russian exporters via credit agencies, via guarantees, etc. So we are very pivotal. We are the trade finance bank for Africa, very critical in promoting Russia-Africa trade,” noted Nwugo.
Meanwhile, Tanzanian Mweka College representative Linda Rvoga revealed her intention to seek partners for research and student exchanges.
The 29th St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) takes place on June 3-6. More than 20,000 people are set to attend, with politicians from around 76 countries making the journey. In addition, for the first time in several years, the United States has accepted the invitation.
Since its establishment in 1997, the forum has served as a platform for international dialogue on global economic issues. Vladimir Putin has taken part in the event regularly since 2005.
