Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is scheduled to present the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament today, Thursday, July 23, 2026. The review will assess Ghana’s economic performance during the first half of the year and outline the government’s fiscal and policy direction for the remainder of 2026.
Key areas expected to feature in the presentation include an update on macroeconomic performance, including GDP growth, inflation, fiscal deficit and public debt, revenue mobilisation and public expenditure for the first half of the year, and government borrowing and financing plans for the rest of 2026.
The rest are progress on flagship programmes such as the 24-hour Economy, the Big Push infrastructure initiative, the One Million Coders Programme, and the National Apprenticeship Programme, Ghana’s transition from the IMF’s Extended Credit Facility programme to the Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI).
Information picked up by Ghana Eye Report on the corridors of power suggest no new taxes are expected to be introduced, with the focus instead on implementing existing fiscal measures to sustain economic stability.
The mid-year budget review is expected to provide important signals for businesses, investors and the public regarding government spending priorities, inflation, interest rates, exchange rate stability and the overall economic outlook for the second half of the year. Enditem
